| Fall is a great time to plant trees. Shoot diameter increases and woody stem tissue hardens, but most importantly, root growth will continue until the ground freezes. Provide adequate water and some, but limited, fertilizer and your fall planted seedlings will be well established and anchored before winter arrives. They will have a big growth advantage over spring planted seedlings. Please check our "NURSERY NOTES" if you are interested in planting trees for shelterbelts or windbreaks. |
